STRONG SEASON FOR DORCHESTER RFC

Under-16s complete a memorable season for the club...

FOLLOWING a strong season for the club’s seniors, Dorchester U16s completed a superb season and retained their Dorset & Wiltshire crown after beating Chippenham 34-7, in a hard fought final at North Dorset Rugby Club.

Chippenham kicked off and put on immediate pressure, but tries from Ed Martin and Stefan Perry (2) put Dorchester 15-0 up at half time.

After the interval Ethan Staddon touched down for a fourth which was converted by Orlando Bailey before a converted try from Chippenham got them off the mark. But further dot downs but Yihan Kersaw and Will Simpson saw Dorch canter home. The Dorchester squad are no strangers to success and are unbeaten since October 9th 2016. They were Dorset County Champions in 2014 (U12) and 2016 (U14), as well as Dorset & Wilts Champions last season at U15. This is their last season together as juniors, all going their separate ways through different options for sixth form and colleges, but Dorchester hope many will continue with the Colts, giving a bright future for the Club.

Coach Mike Sprules said: “Well they did it. A great final, third county title in a row, and the whole season unbeaten. No mean feat when you consider how regularly we have lost players to Bath academy and to the county squad.”
