Taunton’s ground is renamed by sponsor

Taunton Titans’ Hyde Park home will now be called the Commsplus Stadium – after the club’s main sponsor.

Commsplus, who are based in Weston-super-Mare, have supported the club for a number of years. Titans spokesman Dick Macey said: “Steve Collard, the owner and CEO, has declared his conviction that Taunton and the Titans are growing stronger and is backing the club’s determination to develop and progress.”

The determination that has impressed Collard was displayed fully on the pitch last Saturday when the Titans defeated Redruth 34-17.

The scoreline accurately tells the story of Taunton’s hard work to overcome the visitors.

“Titans were quickly 10-0 in front and were never to allow the Reds any opportunity to close the gap,” said Macey. “So the curtain has come down on what has been a very successful month in the Titans’ playing calendar, with their record showing five wins out of five and a place at the top of the table along with Cinderford. But we have been here before so the trick is to pick yourself up, brush yourself down and start all over again – always looking forward.”
