West Country trio in squad for Canada

Bristol’s Caity Mattinson and Lagi Tuima plus Gloucester-Hartpury’s Ellie Kildunne are among six uncapped players named in the 28-player England Women’s squad for the three-match Old Mutual Wealth Series against Canada next month.

Mattinson is no stranger to wearing the Red Rose as she has captained the England U20s side which has also included Tuima, who has played for Devonport Services, Exeter University and Plymouth Albion Ladies.

Joining the uncapped trio are Jess Breach (Harlequins), Abigail Dow (Wasps) and Zoe Harrison (Saracens), with the whole squad convening in camp on the November 13 in Bisham Abbey.

Amber Reed and Izzy Noel-Smith are joined in the squad by former Bristol team- mates Sarah Bern (Gloucester-Hartpury), Nolli Waterman (Wasps), Sarah Hunter (Loughborough Lightning), Poppy Cleall and Marlie Packer (both Saracens).

England will take on Canada in the opening game at Allianz Park on Friday, November 17, kick-off 7.30 pm).  The two sides will meet again in a midweek fixture at The Stoop on Tuesday, November 21 and the series finale on Saturday, November 25 at Twickenham Stadium.

Poppy Leitch (Bristol), Bianca Blackburn and Kelly Smith (Gloucester-Hartpury) are among seven additional players that have been included in a wider 35 women’s Elite Player Squad for the 2017/18 season.
