Chard’s Ellie Seward heading to the Commonwealth games

CHARD’S Ellie Seward has been selected in the England shooting team for next year’s Commonwealth games to be held in April on the Gold Coast, Australia.

Ellie (19), who shoots for the Brook Bank Club based in Cheddar, forms part of the shotgun section of the 20-strong squad (other sections: rifle, pistol and full bore) and will be competing in the TR75 event at the Belmont Shooting Centre in Brisbane.

Ellie said: “My Dad introduced me to shooting three years ago. I tried various disciplines and decided that Olympic Trap was the one for me.

“Since then I have been ranked top junior lady (under 21) in Great Britain. This year I was thrilled to be top senior lady in GB, as well as top junior.

“I am currently both the Junior and Senior UK champion in Olympic Trap and have been lucky enough to compete internationally and this year came fourth in the final of the Junior World Cup in Italy.”
