GOOD DAY FOR WEYMOUTH ROWING CLUB

Success for under-16s and ladies' vets....

WEYMOUTH Rowing Club’s under-16s and ladies vets both achieved first places at last week’s Swanage regatta with all crews fighting hard for their positions, both in the regatta as a whole, and for Weymouth’s place in the Jurassic League.

The under-16 crew (pictured) were in front from start to finish and their result was never in doubt once they had consolidated their lead.

They showed composure, great technique and effort which delighted their cox. The under-16s’ co-ordinator said: “All the under-16s have worked really hard in training and it was great to see all that effort repaid with a fantastic victory. I am really proud of them”

The ladies vets held on during a tight finish and snatched victory from Swanage

The Weymouth results were; Men’s vets 3rd, Mixed 6th, Ladies C 5th, Men’s C 7th, Ladies B 2nd, Mens B 4th.

This year The Jurassic League has three new categories, mixed, mens and ladies vets.

Weymouth achieved 29 points which puts them third with Swanage and Bridport joint first on 21.
