Record number of crews and supporters...

LANGSTONE hosted the latest Jurassic Gig Rowing League Regatta at Northney Marina, Hayling Island last week.

Strong winds were a feature of the day, with six tight anti clockwise turns the easily viewed course proved to be a challenge for all crew coxes.

A record number of crews and supporters crammed onto the foreshore at the Marina to view the racing.

To reduce the prospect of collisions over the narrow tidal course Langstone introduced seeding for the first time at a regatta, the leading four clubs in each of the eight race categories set off a minute in advance of the chasing pack, each crew were timed and it was a massive success, good news for clubs with similar constraints.

The overall regatta winners were Bridport, second were Langstone and third Swanage. London Cornish team were invited as a guests.

The next Jurassic Regatta will be hosted by Bridport on Sunday, July 8th.
