Injured skier ‘stable’ in coma

BRITISH aerials skier Lloyd Wallace remains in hospital in Switzerland with a severe head injury following an accident in training on Thursday.

The 22-year-old, who was born in Dorset and went to Bath University, is ‘in a light coma but stable’, according to a press release issued by the Switzerland skiing team, with whom he trains.

In a statement, the British Ski and Snowboard Federation said: ‘(We) can confirm that British aerials athlete Lloyd Wallace sustained a head injury (on Thursday) whilst training in Switzerland.

‘He is currently in hospital in Zurich and is being well looked after by local doctors, and his family.

‘British Ski and Snowboard wishes Lloyd a speedy recovery and our thoughts are both with him and his family.’

Wallace is a former world junior bronze medallist and was in a strong position to qualify for his Winter Olympics debut in Pyeongchang next year.
